Five wins for Sprintec

Athletes from Sprintec Track Club, already in London for next month''s IAAF World Championships, were in action at the Loughborough Permit Meet yesterday.

Five athletes - Ronda Whyte, Natasha Morrison, Yanique Thompson, Aneisha McLaughlin, and Demish Gaye - picked up wins.

Whyte, the National 400 metres hurdles champions, won her pet event in 54.96 seconds and in the process broke the meet record of 56.18 seconds set by American Jarail Hayes in 2014.

Competing in his first 400m since his close second-place finish behind Nathon Allen at the National Senior Championships, Gaye won the one-lap event easily in 45.29 seconds to erase the old mark of 45.58 set by Great Britain's Martin Rooney in 2015.

Morrison won the women's 100m in 11.19 seconds, while Thompson captured the 100m hurdles in 13.03 seconds, and McLaughlin closed out the wins after clocking 51.94 in the women's 400m.
