With demand for cashless payment solutions on the rise, Jamaica Premier League (JPL) and the Professional Football Jamaica Limited (PFJL), on Thursday, signed a multi-year sponsorship deal with Lynk Jamaica to introduce a digital payment solution for football matches.

Lynk will partner with the JPL over the next three years to drive cashless payments for matches in all football communities. The company will also introduce a new knock-out tournament in November, called the ‘Lynk Goal Cup’.

“Lynk Goal Cup will be a new experience that merges great entertainment and great sports. We have big plans for football,” said Kemoi Burke, brand and sponsorship manager at Lynk. “I can promise that we will bring a new energy to the football space both on and off the field. Like football, Lynk A Fi Everybody. We’re excited and honoured to work with the JPL to bring even more enjoyment to the space with new and exciting activities or, as we like to say, ‘Lynk-speriences’,” said Burke.

Lynk, through a partnership with Romeich Entertainment, will promote entertainment at the upcoming tournament and weekly matches to drive more fans to the stadium for a full package of entertainment, sports and fun.

“As someone integral to the development of entertainment, which is a large part of the Jamaican lifestyle, it was a key partnership for us in keeping with the positioning of Lynk as a lifestyle product. It is our mindset that Lynk is for everyone and can fit into every Jamaican’s lifestyle,”said Romeich Major.

The Romeich and Lynk teams will also go off the field to work with local vendors and business owners across 22 communities islandwide to introduce them to cashless payments, create opportunities for more business and drive financial inclusion. As part of this process of community engagement, residents will have access to viewing experiences to enjoy and participate courtesy of Lynk.

Chief executive officer at PFJL, Owen Hill, said, “The partnership is pivotal to the strategic direction being charted by the PFJL. Creating and optimising synergies is frontal on the agenda of the entity, therefore the partnership will provide a well-needed boost for the product.” Hill added, “Fans will be treated to high-intensity entertainment both on and off the field. Activations will be done throughout the season with exposure and education on the benefits, usage, and importance of staying “Lynked”.

The official sponsorship will kick off this weekend with the first double header of the season at the Anthony Spaulding Sports Complex.
