New Adidas kit comes at an exciting time for Reggae Boyz - Ricketts

JAMAICA FOOTBALL Federation (JFF) president Michael Ricketts is pleased with the timing of Adidas’ release of the 2024-25 home-and-away kits for the Reggae Boyz.

The kits are the second collection from the JFF’s agreement with Adidas signed last year.

The kits were launched ahead of the Reggae Boyz World Cup qualifying campaign, which began with a 1-0 win over the Dominican Republic at the National Stadium yesterday as well as the 2024 Copa America, set to start later this month.

“Having established a relationship with one of the most decorated sports apparel manufacturers, the relationship has grown tremendously,” said Ricketts.

“We are confident that this partnership will continue to positively impact our fans. We celebrate the launch of our new kit as we embark on our FIFA World Cup qualification campaign and prepare for the big tournament in America this summer.”

“I want to use this opportunity to tell all our fans to get excited with us. Show your colours and support our team.”

The kits also include a pre-match jersey, training gear, and anthem jackets to be worn by all the various national teams.

The kits will replace the 2023 jerseys supplied by Adidas and designed in collaboration with fashion brand Wales Bonner. These jerseys were previously worn at the 2023 CONCACAF Gold Cup and the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup.

Sam Handy, senior vice-president of Adidas Product and Design, said the jerseys represent a celebration of the rich culture of the island and Jamaica’s ‘unity through diversity’.

Both jerseys feature a bespoke pattern that includes a symbol of the swallow tail humming bird, Jamaica’s national bird.

“We wanted the design of these new jerseys to represent the rich culture of a country that is celebrated worldwide. Just as Jamaica’s motto ‘Out of Many, One People’ speaks to its unity through diversity, this jersey is unapologetically vibrant from a distance but has multiple, unique details to discover up close,” said Handy.

Handy welcomes the relationship Adidas shares with Jamaica, saying that the sporting apparel giants are excited for the future of both the men’s and women’s national teams.

“We’re proud to continue supplying the JFF with match-day wear to support the players on the pitch ahead of a massive tournament this summer for the Reggae Boyz and an important year for the Reggae Girlz as they build on their historic achievements in the last FIFA Women’s World Cup.”

The jerseys will feature Adidas ‘AEROREADY’ fabric, which is designed to absorb moisture and are made using recycled materials.
