Football supporters have been flocking vendors across the Corporate Area to purchase flags of nations that they would love to see win the 2018 World Cup in Russia, and the names that come up, for the most flags bought, are Brazil, Argentina and Germany.

Gilbert Headman, a vendor plying his trade in downtown Kingston on Monday, told The Gleaner that persons who approached him mostly request flags for those three countries.

"Dem mostly buy Brazil, Germany and Argentina, and sales a gwaan good, too, compared to the last World Cup."

Another vendor in downtown Kingston who gave his name as Frankie said, "The flags they buy are Brazil, Germany and Argentina. Sales is not as good as I would want, but mi still a enjoy it."

Vendor, Jacqueline, said that she has mostly been selling Brazil and Argentina flags.

"The people come and say I must sell them a flag for their team. Some say Brazil, and some say Argentina. The England ones, for sure, don't go fast," she said.

For the most part, the flags were being sold for $100 to $200.

Another flag salesman revealed that he and many fellow salesmen bought their products from Chinese-operated wholesale shops in downtown Kingston.

Public passenger and private vehicles across Kingston and St Andrew have been proudly parading flags of nations they support. Some persons have even found it necessary to put two flags on their vehicles.

Fruit vendors have not been left out of the excitement.

The Gleaner caught up with Devon Davidson, a melon and pineapple vendor at Parade in downtown Kingston. The flag on his cart indicated he was a fan of Brazil.

"Because they have a lot of black men on the team, I prefer to go with the black men, win or lose. I support Brazil right through. Brazil a di top side," said Davidson.
