Prime Minister Andrew Holness today continued his review of boards under the science and technology portfolios, as well as energy.

Holness had previously stated that he would maintain oversight of science and technology for at least two weeks while he reviews the boards, systems and procedures.

The prime minister noted that the portfolios of science and technology have not been moved to the Office of the Prime Minister (OPM).

In a report earlier today, which was later withdrawn, the Jamaica Information Service had stated that the prime minister on Wednesday took on oversight of the science, energy and technology portfolios.

A release from the OPM, a short while ago, stated that Holness had said the energy portfolio would remain at the OPM.

In his address to board members of the relevant entities, the prime minister thanked them for their service to Jamaica and stressed the importance of all boards functioning with transparency, probity and accountability.

The prime minister reportedly reminded the Board members of the importance of review in order to ensure that policy guidelines are followed and that the actions of the Boards and the entities fall within the governance framework established by the Government.

Since yesterday, Holness has met with the Boards of:

Petroleum Corporation of Jamaica
Government Electrical Regulator
Joint Task Force - Petrojam Refinery Upgrade Project
eGov
Scientific Reseach Council
Posts Corporation of Jamica
NESOL
Spectrum Management Authority
