Letter of the Day | Bus depot for Constant Spring Market lands?

THE EDITOR, Sir:

I and many other people are wondering what is to happen to the now-cleared lands where the Constant Spring Market previously stood. It seems to be a huge secret, although, of course, there are many rumours. Surely the taxpaying citizens of this area should have some idea what is to be put there?

We presume it will be a bus depot – long awaited – that would help in many ways.

It could assist in regulating the current bus chaos that has been allowed to prevail for many years and has hindered traffic no end.

Just as important, if not more so, it could give bus passengers a dry, shaded and pleasant depot, which would include much-needed bathroom facilities. Oh, and perhaps we could even plant some trees!

It could have some shops and allow the people who had businesses behind the market to continue their trade in a regulated fashion. That would bring rental income to the depot and give travellers an opportunity to purchase food, drinks and the like.

Can we get some answers?
