Last week’s exciting Fit 4 Life Season 3: Fit in 5 season finale not only saw the crowning of the new Fit 4 Life champion but also the introduction of a new coach to the programme.

And what an introduction it was! The Unit 1 team from Myers Fitness Centre in Ocho Rios, St Ann delivered a dose of energy Fit 4 Lifers will not soon forget.

By the time #livewire MC Sheena-Kay Sinclair ushered the team onstage, patrons were cowering into whatever shaded corner they could find to avoid the mid-morning sun. But not even the broiling sun could stop the already-tired Fit 4 Lifers from moving with the all-black-clad Randy Myers, as his energy infected the entire venue at The Gleaner’s 7 North Street, Kingston headquarters.

Myers started with a motivational talk as he got the crowd warmed up. Then, joined by Fit 4 Life’s resident energy king, MC Robert ‘Astro’ Whyte of Sweet Energy Fitness, Myers showed his true colours. It was non-stop movement as he and his team delivered 10 minutes of dance-aerobics madness strong enough to keep patrons satisfied until the next season rolls around.

Known for his high-energy workouts, Myers showed that he was no novice. Moving seamlessly between the stage and the crowd, he regularly brought Fit 4 Lifers to the stage as he and his team took every drop of energy the fans could muster.

18 YEARS OF FITNESS

Myers told Fit 4 Life that he saw the initiative as a positive one that falls in line with his passion and love for fitness, hence his delivering such a performance. “It’s just the passion for what we do, so we can’t help but have fun and help others to have fun as well,” he said.

His passion drove him to start Myers Fitness Centre at his mother’s house over 18 years ago. Myers Fitness has since grown to become one of the largest gyms on the island. They offer a variety of training options ranging from traditional gym training to pilates, spin, yoga and outdoor exercise.

Myers Fitness, a 24-hour operation for the past seven years, also hosts an annual Gym Expo, which sees them moving around the island promoting fitness.

Fitness is a family affair for Myers. His wife of 15 years, Ysanne, is an integral part of the operation and was part of Unit 1 team, which performed during last Saturday’s workout. The other team member for that performance was Kimar Nelson.
