Public must be part of development

THE EDITOR, Madam:
I like Robert Stephens’ column ‘Port Royal development: Wrong approach’ in yesterday’s Gleaner. It could have been stronger, given the gargantuan effort he has put into the issue.
In my mind’s eye, Port Royal is part of a larger development of the Kingston/Palisadoes/Port Royal waterfront, itself part of a larger conurbation: Kingston/Portmore/Spanish Town/May Pen mega metropolis. Not to mention a system of public parks.
There is a clear and crying need for the public to be informed and be facilitated to participate in major infrastructural developments in Jamaica.
