High-ranking Portmore gangster Shane ‘Uno’ Facey has been convicted in the Corporate Area Gun Court for illegal possession of firearm and ammunition.

Facey was convicted on Tuesday when he appeared before Justice Leighton Pusey in relation to a seizure in Braeton, Phase 1, in August 2019.

Senior Superintendent Clive Blair, whose St Catherine South Police Division put away Central Village don Fredrick ‘Clarks Booty’ Braham in March to a combined 10 years in prison for separate illegal weapon charges, named Facey as “one of the top-tier members of the Gorilla Gang, which operates in the Naggo Head space”.

Facey is to be sentenced on July 29.

“We are looking at some cases of murder that he is alleged to have been involved in,” Blair told The Gleaner on Thursday.

The Gorilla Gang, Blair said, has been on the St Catherine South police’s radar.

“This gang would have given us some shootings and murders over a period of time, extortion as well. The Naggo Head taxi stand is right in front of them, plus robberies and other criminal activities,” he said, stressing that cabbies were easy targets for gangs.

Meanwhile, the division was rocked on Thursday by a double shooting that occurred about 2:50 p.m. at the West Cumberland Plaza in Independence City.

Blair said that two men were shot and injured by a lone attacker. Both men were hospitalised with serious injuries but were in stable condition.
