James Rawle has been named deputy executive chairman for Lasco Distributors and Lasco Manufacturing Limited, filling two of the three vacancies created by Peter Chin’s departure more than a year ago.

Chin, who was managing director and deputy chairman of Lasco Distributors Limited, as well as deputy chair of affiliates Lasco Manufacturing and Lasco Financial Services, left the group in April 2019 to “pursue other interests”, the market was told at the time.

Peter Chin, who was named deputy chair in 2016, had been seen up to the point of his departure as the eventual successor to executive chairman Lascelles Chin, who founded Lasco at age 50 in 1988.

Lascelles took over the running of Lasco Distributors at Peter’s departure last year, and began looking for a replacement.

It’s unclear whether Rawle’s ascension to the deputy chairmanship has any implications beyond the filling of the board vacancies. Lasco declined to comment on the appointments.

He became managing director of Lasco Manufacturing Limited in June 2017. He previously ran the Nestle Jamaica country operations on behalf of the Swiss-owned international food company.
