The Jamaica Police Federation will soon have to elect a new chairman following the promotion of Sergeant Patrae Rowe to the rank of inspector.

The federation represents cops up to the rank of inspector.

However, the executive position for an inspector has already been filled, which means that Rowe will have to demit office.

Rowe has confirmed his promotion but declined further comment.

The full list of promotions are to be published Friday in the police force orders.

According to the governance regime of the police federation, the affairs of the union must be guided by the general secretary until a new chairman is installed.
