Since its launch in 2020, the Plantation Smokehouse in Richmond, St Ann, has developed an enviable reputation as a choice location for foodies.

Many journey from Kingston to St Ann to experience Plantation Smokehouse’s tantalising dishes; however, next month Kingston will have its own location at 33 Constant Spring Road, next door to Savannah Plaza.

“It’s a new development; we were invited, so we’re just going into town to make a big scene,” said Alwyn Brown, operator of Plantation Smokehouse and Sharkie’s Seafood Restaurant in Salem, St Ann.

“Kingston is going to be a smaller version than what we have in St Ann, considering we have two and a quarter acres in St Ann. We’re going to try and make it as close as possible to St Ann,” he told Food.

“Same quality food, same quality service; and there’s going to be live entertainment there also, as we have a stage.”

The area, formerly an open lot, was developed to accommodate Plantation Smokehouse and a few other businesses.

He said he accepted the offer to open a new outlet as he realised the demand was there for the product, with his clientele from Kingston consistently growing.

“We get people from all over. I think there are persons in Kingston who would like to come, but not everybody is mobile,” he pointed out.

Brown said while he expects good support for the Corporate Area location, he still expects persons from the city to take the ride down to St Ann for the experience.

And while the restaurant is growing, the catering division is also moving up, with Brown admitting that he will soon have to establish his own banquet team to deal with the increase in business in that area.

Plantation Smokehouse’s menu is a fusion of Jamaican, American, Asian and vegetarian dishes.
