HAVING WON the 1000 Guineas and the Jamaica St Leger with the impressive colt BLUE VINYL, top-flight jockey Raddesh Roman has now set his sights on winning the first Triple Crown of his career at Caymanas Park.

The Bern Identity-Blufield colt, who is trained by Patrick Lynch, turned in an impressive performance last Saturday to win the Jamaica St Leger over 10 furlongs to give Roman his second classic win at odds at 7-5.

ATOMICA from the barn of Gary Sabraite, who was the 1000 Guineas winner, and the 1-9 favourite in the race, had to settle for second in the event.

BLUE VINYL will be seeking to become the country’s 13th Triple Crown winner in the 12-furlong Jamaica Derby on August 6, and Roman said he is very confident that he will get the job done once remains healthy.

“I am just asking Father God to just continue to guide me, the horse and the whole connection going into that race so that he can stay fit and sound so he can deliver in the Derby,” said Roman.

“It is every jockey’s dream to win classic races, and at this point, I am not going to get overly excited, but I just want to get the job done on Derby day,” he said.

Roman, who has won 12 races this year, pointed out that BLUE VINYL is the best horse that he has ridden in his career.

In addition, Roman, who has been riding since 2018, has been working very hard in the saddle this season to improve his technique.

“I know that once I remain healthy and strong and getting the good rides, I am going to win a lot of races,” Roman reasoned.
