Howard Gregory, the promising Class 3 sprinter from Glemuir High School, won the 100 yds in 11.0 seconds, an established record. Charles Major (No. 2) of Jamaica College was second and Donald Lawrence (No. 5) of Wolmer's third.

TOP COUNTRY SCHOOL in the 54th Inter-Secondary Schools Athletic Championships, which ended at the National Stadium on March 21, 1964, was Cornwall College of Montego Bay. They were third in the overall standings with 31 points. KC won with 86 and JC was second with 38. By emerging the top country school. Cornwall became the first winners of the trophy donated by three Jamaican athletes in the United States - Ron Horsham, Winston Peake, and Sucliffe Campbell - for award to the top country school if a city team wins the championships and to the top city school if a country school wins.
