Gov't gets injunction against cops

The Supreme Court has granted the Government a 28 day injunction barring members of the police force from continuing their protest action.
About one thousand restive rank and file members of the JCF called in sick yesterday as they pressed their demands for an improved wage offer from the Government.
And in a release a short while ago, the attorney general’s office said an injunction against the executive of the Jamaica Police Federation was granted tonight.
The injunction bars all police personnel from causing or attempting to carry out acts to cause disaffection among the members of the Force for the next 28 days.
It also prohibits any actions which could cause or causes the withholding of service by members of the force.
The court has also ruled that respondents be appointed to represent the members of the Jamaica Police Federation.
The matter is to be heard by the court on June 18.
In the meantime, the attorney general, Patrick Atkinson is reminding the federation’s executive and that failure to comply with the terms of the Supreme Court Order will result in them being in contempt of court and liable to having their assets being confiscated.
