A FRESH LOOK FOR WHITEHOUSE FISH MARKET

Published:Wednesday | May 23, 2018 | 12:00 AM
Sandals South Coast engineer Mario Burte (left) puts on the first coat of paint on a column at the Whitehouse Fish Market, while his colleague Clinton Coates measures it for a new skirting. Looking on is the resort’s chief engineer, Eudel Taylor. The three were among several volunteers from the resort who turned out to paint the fish market during Labour Day activities on the south coast. The fish market, which is utilised by over 70 fisherfolk, is the main economic hub in Whitehouse, historically a fishing village. The area currently used as the fish market was built in 1998 and has never been painted since. Thanks to the volunteers of Sandals South Coast and a generous donation from the Sandals Foundation, the area will now boast a new look.
