It's the start that stops us

Published:Thursday | October 1, 2015 | 3:50 PMCorine La Font

I would love to take credit for that headline, but I have to give it to my mentor and coach, Bob Proctor. If you haven't heard that name before, I would strongly suggest you get to know it fast!

What the title is simply speaking to is procrastination. Let's go beyond that to the one thing that debilitates and paralyses us - FEAR! Anything outside your comfort zone tends to breed fear. As a matter of fact, what you are now comfortable with was once a fear until you got over it. Isn't that something? So what is there to fear then if you will get over it?

Fear really gets a bad rep! I feel sorry for Fear. I think Fear tries to be a good guy - to encourage you to sprint into action, not hold you back, but then again, you have help. Those with whom you surround yourself feed your thoughts with negativity. You give them that permission.

Many of you are fearful of putting your ideas out there for fear that others may think it is stupid or irrelevant or that it may be laughed it. So what? It probably isn't meant for that crowd anyway. Have you ever thought of that?

Many authors and entrepreneurs die or put their ideas to death on account of fear. They are afraid of getting started and so they stop - come to a complete halt - giving up on what they believe to be true and what could affect someone else's life. This is an injustice and selfish. I remember mentioning this before and I have to mention it again. Each one of us has a story and even if it reaches one person, you have the responsibility to share it, no matter what.

Sometimes people don't get started because they don't know 'how' and instead of taking a leap of faith and making mistakes along the way, they prefer to know exactly how it will work out before they even get started. Now, that is some crazy thinking! The beauty is finding out along the way. How boring is it to know way in advance, if that is ever possible, the exact results of something into which you wish to venture? If that's your way of thinking, you certainly need to change that now for that is not the model that works.

Just start!

As a coach, I have been offering virtual one-on-one as well as group sessions to many clients in Jamaica and across the world who are authors as well as entrepreneurs. You may be in that target audience sitting on the fence of fear trying for the longest while to decide whether you should or you may not be getting the results you would like to have. Don't let starting stop you. Just start! Or in some cases, start over!

Now is the best time to do so since we are in the last quarter of 2015. Don't go over into 2016 with the same old habits, thoughts, and ideas. Bring them to life! Decide to make a change now. Don't let fear in whatever form it takes cripple you into not writing that book, start that business or whatever it is that you have always wanted to do. Let's close off 2015 with a bang!

Bob Proctor is one of the few remaining 'living dinosaurs of knowledge' who can help you, if you are serious, to change all the negative things that are happening in your life now. He's not only a prosperity coach but a man with the wisdom passed on from Napoleon Hill, Andrew Carnegie, and Earl Nightingale. Check him out for yourself at http://www.proctorgallagherinstitute.com/ and connect with me to let me know how the information he shares is working for you. I can testify that it works for me!
