Nostalgia

Written by Xi Murong

Translated by He Yan

Like the clear distant sound of a bamboo flute,

The song of my hometown often rings on a moonlit night.

Like waving goodbye in fog,

The face of my hometown has a vague wistful look.

Since I left,

Nostalgia has grown like a tree without annual rings

That will never wither.

Xi Murong (born 1943) is a Chinese writer and painter, she is known for her poetry.
