The new Audi A4 S-Line Quattro

Published:Friday | October 13, 2017 | 12:00 AM

The new Audi A4 S-Line Quattro is as sleek as it is sporty, with LED front lights and LED rear lights added to the clean slimmer look current generations of Audis are sporting.

The S-line logo is placed on the left and right fenders, giving company to the Quattro logos on the front grill and the trunk lid.

The vehicle’s cloth and leather combination interior is supportive and the seats hug you just right - not too soft and not too hard. Its attractive race-inspired steering wheel and black roof lining are standard features seen on other S-Line models. Interior space is roomy in the front and the back of the cabin. Door cards are a combination of leather, cloth and  brushed aluminum accents, giving a subtle sporty yet luxurious feel. The dashboard is also sleek with a narrow brushed steel panel housing the air conditioning and radio controls, finished with the Audi’s famous Quattro logo above the glove box.

On top of the dash is Audi’s seven-inch MMI display screen revealing suspension and drive train settings in addition to media entertainment options. The Bang & Olufsun premium speaker system delivers superb crisp sound and heavy bass for the more demanding audiophile to appreciate during driving.

The suspension settings on this A4 offer a noticeable difference in feel. In the comfort mode setting the suspension is noticeably softer for tackling the rougher parts of the road.  Gears in this mode are not too aggressive and shift smoothly for a more comfortable and easy ride with very little road noise in the cabin. The brakes are quite effective but may seem sharp to those not used to such responsiveness. Putting the car in dynamic mode changes the parameters of the drive train’s shifting points and suspension settings, all becoming more suitable for more aggressive driver input.  This is where you appreciate the A 4’s brake system. In this mode the car seems to take advantage of its Quattro system and all of its performance upgrades.  The 2.0 litre turbo TFSI engine quickly responds to throttle inputs with enough torque for quick overtakes and hugging tight corners.  Steering and vehicle chassis feedback is good as you can trust the A4 to go where you want it go.

This particular package offered on the A4 has added a performance oriented edge, luring those requiring better handling and sportier features than the more docile models offered. This A 4 finds a balance between performance and luxury, and delivers both in fine style.
