Jan 21: JMD sells for $121.04

The Jamaica dollar traded at an average rate of $121.04 against the US dollar on Thursday, down four cents in a day of heavy trading on the foreign exchange market.
The JMD also traded at $169.97 against the pound sterling, depreciating 3 cents; and at $85.44 against the Canadian dollar, losing $1.86 from Wednesday.
In the US dollar market, foreign exchange traders bought up US$81.4 million and so were able to comfortably meet demand, which amounted to US$76.49 million.
The Jamaican dollar has fallen 63 cents or 0.52 per cent year to date against the USD, its main trading partner.
