Dr David Lowe appointed CPJ chief executive officer

Caribbean Producers Jamaica (CPJ) has named prominent finance professional, Dr David Lowe, as its chief executive officer. 

Lowe replaces CPJ co-founder Tom Tyler, who has been named co-chairman with Montego Bay businessman, Mark Hart.

In an interview with The Gleaner Tuesday afternoon, Lowe, who has a PhD in Finance from the Business School at the University of Manchester, England, said, CPJ has gone through rapid growth and will place emphasis on further growth in the upcoming fiscal year.

"Leveraging our core capabilities and strengths and servicing the hospitality industry, while incorporating systems and efficiency will be the focus of the  new fiscal year which begins in July," Lowe said.

The company, which remains the largest purveyor to hotels on the island, has expanded to St Lucia and plans to make inroads into the rest of the region.

Commenting on the appointment, Hart said the promotion formed part of the succession plan, given the growth of CPJ.

"David is a strategic thinker, who is very effective and supports building talents within the company. He has brought strong management to CPJ’s expansion of its food service business," Hart said.

Lowe joined CPJ in 2012 as vice president for business development. Within months he was promoted to chief revenue officer with responsibility for sales, marketing and business development.

Caribbean Producers Jamaica employs over 450 people.
