FirstCare Medical Plan, a company that facilitates discounts from a range of healthcare providers across Jamaica, is expanding its services to include spas and some restaurants.

Launched in September 2022 with five providers in Kingston, FirstCare has expanded its providers to more than 300 in all parishes in the island.

More than 2,000 persons have signed up as members in the plan so far, which offers unlimited visits to a general practitioner, as well as discounts ranging from 10 per cent to 30 per cent for services such as prescription drugs, laboratory tests, imaging, as well as dental, optical and other specialist visits and ambulance services.

“Outside of doctor’s visits, labs and prescriptions, we are looking for health for the whole person and getting into preventative care; we need to be treating ourselves and taking care of ourselves,” Sales Manager at FirstCare Zygmunt Williams told the Financial Gleaner. “So we are adding rewards programmes, and also spas and restaurants where we can eat healthy”.

Membership to access services in FirstCare is for $2,500, plus GCT, per month for adults; and $1,500, plus GCT, per month for children.

The company, which has Caribbean ownership outside of Jamaica, has built partnerships with a number of health providers, including Medical Associates Hospital, Winchester Medical, Courts Optical, the Imperial Optical Group, and Dunrobin Medical.
