ST GEORGE'S, Grenada, CMC – The Nurses and Midwives Council in Grenada is warning persons against participating in and completing education programmes at institutions that are not certified by the competent authority.

In a statement, council chairperson, Nester Edwards, said people who are interested in the nursing programme at any institution in Grenada need to find out its status under the Act Number 15 of 2003.

“The Nurses and Midwives Council of Grenada wishes to advise the public of its responsibility under section 7 (I) of the Nurses and Midwives Registration Act No.15, 2003, to certify suitable nursing schools in Grenada, together with the buildings, teachers, facilities, and curriculum,” the statement said.

“Therefore, before registering for any nursing education programme in Grenada, the public is advised to enquire whether the programme is certified by the Nurses and Midwives Council of Grenada,” it added.

The council is also to verify the qualifications of overseas training institutions in nursing and midwifery as well as prescribe continuing professional education for nurses and midwives who are registered under the existing legislation.
