PORT OF SPAIN, Trinidad, CMC – A radio disc jockey died Sunday in Trinidad when the car in which he was travelling flipped before it crashed into a light pole along the recently opened San Fernando to Point Fortin Archibald-De Leon Highway.

The authorities said that Clyde Jemmot, who worked at 96.1 WEFM, which catered mainly to the young population, had earlier played music at a party when the accident occurred at 4.30 a.m. local time.

Another occupant of the car has been hospitalised.

Many of his colleagues remain in disbelief with some taking to social media to express their grief.

“Another soldier gone RIP Clyde the law Jemmott. Gone too soon and way too suddenly. Easy bro you were one of the coolest genuine cats,” wrote Ian Eligon, while the US-based Nikki Crosby wrote “hadn't seen you since I've been back”.
