Father of 10 in Bahamas imprisoned for sexually molesting friend's daughter

NASSAU, Bahamas, CMC – A High Court judge in the Bahamas has sentenced a father of 10 children to eight years in prison after he agreed to a plea deal for molesting a 15-year-old child in 2019.
Justice Joyann Ferguson Pratt sentenced Elray Deveaux, 40, to prison for unlawful sexual intercourse with the girl, reportedly the daughter of a female friend of his, on April 1, 2019.
He had pleaded guilty to the charge as part of a plea deal.
Ferguson Pratt said that his actions involved stealing the girl's innocence and were reprehensible and sentenced him to serve the sentence at the Bahamas Department of Correctional Services.
She said he had taken something from his victim that she could never get back.
