Right mix of music, energy at Heineken World Premiere

THE RECENTLY concluded Heineken World Premiere Party, hosted at Fort Rocky in Port Royal, pulled out patrons by the hundreds.
The organisers went all out with the production, employing the services of Main Event to create a massive and beautifully decorated stage, and the music was rounded, reflecting the reggae, dancehall and soca genres.
The venue also carried a food station which offered various Jamaican foods as well as a gaming lounge, which was of course dominated by males who challenged each other throughout the night.
Chromatic was responsible for the musical juggling and they created much excitement on the dance floor by playing dancehall dance songs. Singles from Elephant Man, Ding Dong and Voicemail were obvious favourites that had patrons doing the Willie Bounce, Pon Di River and Summer Swing dance moves.
The first live performance of the night came from dancehall icon Spragga Benz, who was a surprise addition to the show. The seasoned entertainer, who also called veteran recording artistes Don Youth and Beenie Man to the stage, received strong responses for classic singles like Tiny Tot and Peace, among others.
Spragga Benz, who highlighted that he was used to raunchy performances, kept his set clean and avoided expletives. He even attempted to deejay one of his hardcore songs in perfect English, and the patrons rewarded his attempt with uproars.
Amsterdam?s top EDM disc jock, DJ Chucky, came next and whipped up a solid hour of EDM music, ending at 2 a.m. The DJ dabbled in hip hop, soca, reggae and dancehall in an effort to connect with the audience, who responded relatively well.
Bunji Garlin and his wife, Fay-Ann Lyons, brought the curtain down on a night of beer and energy by performing a solid set of collective hits. Songs like Differentology and Red Light District were obvious crowd favorites.
The venue was noticeably very secure, courtesy of a strong police presence, and upon the conclusion of Heineken World Premiere Party a fleet of JUTC buses were readily awaiting patrons to transfer them to the designated parking area.
