The Bacchanal Carnival excitement hit a high at the New Mas Camp, National Stadium grounds, last Friday with Bunji Garlin and Fay-Ann Lyons (The Vikings) doing a tag-team performance.

From as early as 10 p.m., patrons were filling up the venue, while DJ Bambino whipped up the crowd with popular songs like To Meh Heart and Red Light District, among others.

The Craven A ladies, dressed in gold outfits this time around, were also in high gear relatively early, dancing up a storm in their booth, while the dancing Digicel promotional ladies prowled the venue, carrying branded flags and gyrating with patrons.

The Bacchanal VIP area, which featured a hassle-free bar with a food station, was decked out with sofas, flat-screen televisions and a dance floor. Patrons who arrived before the bulk of the crowd were attended to by bowtie-wearing, black-and-white clad waitresses.

Bunji Garlin and Fay-Ann Lyons entered the main stage shortly after 12:54 a.m. to a huge roar from the audience. They went straight to business, performing the popular songs Pon Di Grung, Get On and Whine and Dip, among others.

good responses

"Carnival is about woman, and woman is about carnival. This is why I sing a song like this," Bunji said, going on to sing Red Light District.

Most of the pair's songs received good responses, as patrons waved their rags, flags and hands to show their appreciation. The self-proclaimed 'Soca Vikings' concluded their set with Hall of Fame, a song recorded by singer Richie Stephens and Garlin.

It was telecommunications giant Digicel's night, and sponsorship executive Danielia McLean was satisfied.

"It was the most phenomenal way to end the Bacchanal Friday's season. Bunji and Fay-Ann gave an unforgettable performance that our customers definitely enjoyed. We are now excited to continue the carnival season and offer even more value to our soca-loving customers." McLean said.
