Jesus and I, Rebranded

Gospel recording artiste Jai has now rebranded himself as Jai Kingston, and is in the process of releasing his sophomore album.
Jai, an acronym for Jesus and I, told The Sunday Gleaner that the name change was to establish a greater presence online.
"I needed more presence on the Internet. When you type 'Jai' in the search bar, there are several people with that name. I wanted to put a face to my brand so people could differentiate, so I added the word Kingston. It's more of a marketing move to set myself apart," he said.
In addition to working on his album, which he describes as being uptempo with reggae beats, Jai Kingston is also working on his autobiography.
"My autobiography will chronicle my journey as a young man from August Town who accepted Jesus Christ at the age of 12. It will also tell of my journey in the gospel fraternity, how I met my father when I was 27 years old, and the relationship we have now. It's going to be a very interesting read," Jai Kingston said.
With the Jamaica music scene saturated with reggae and dancehall artistes, Jai Kingston told The Sunday Gleaner that it has not been very difficult to get his music across to the masses.
"It's not hard for me to get my music out there. I've been in the industry for quite some time, so I have knowledge of how this works. Social media also helps in getting your message across and getting your brand out there. The only real difficulty to me is that radio stations don't really play gospel as much as they play other genres, but once you constantly promote and put in the work, then you'll see the rewards," he said.
In the meantime, Jai Kingston is busy promoting his latest single, Save Me, which will also be featured on the album. He is also gearing up for performances in Florida and England.
