AMP-FEST

The first annual AMP (Art, Music, Poetry) Festival is at Nanook, 20 Burlington Ave, today and tomorrow. Gates open noon, showtime 8 p.m. Tonight features Yashika Graham, Abbebe Payne, Dexta Malawi, Dre &KJ and Treviq. Performing tomorrow are Mel Cooke, Oku Onuora, Skaibrid, Jemynie and Naja Ra & Jamaiel Shabaka. Music by DJ Iset Sankofa. Today's workshops are capoeira (1 p.m.-3 p.m.), drumming (3:30 p.m.-5:30 p.m.) and yoga/meditation (6 p.m.-7:30 p.m.), Tomorrow's workshops: drumming (1 p.m.-3 p.m.), kemetic yoga/ African dancing (3:30 p.m.-5:30 p.m.), capoeira (6 p.m.-7:30 p.m,).

Chorale, Philharmonic on tour

The National Chorale of Jamaica and Philharmonic Orchestra of Jamaica perform with bass-baritone Sir Willard White, OM, CBE, Sylvia Kevorkian (soprano), Leah Johnson (contralto) and Byron Johnson (tenor).
