Company Dance Theatre gets new Associate Director

Upon recommendation by artistic director, Tony Wilson, The Company Dance Theatre appointed executive director, Colin Blackwood as its new associate director.

Blackwood joined the Company in 2003 as an apprentice after having started dancing at the University of the West Indies Dance Society the previous year. He was a principal dancer in the Company until his sojourn to the University of Florida to further his academic studies in 2007. While abroad, Blackwood assumed administrative and executive roles within the Company and also performed as a guest artist during intermittent Seasons.

Blackwood's directorship commences on November 20, 2015 which coincides with the Company's 27th Anniversary Season Opening Night Gala and Benefit to be held at The Little Theatre at 8 p.m. The performance will be followed by an all-inclusive Soiree at the American International School of Kingston. Blackwood will be the Company's first associate director since the Company's inception in 1988.

Colin Blackwood resides in Miami, Florida where he performs with Brazarte Dance Company and is also a practising Attorney-At-Law.
