Entertainment Briefs: Lesbians considered Pitt as sperm donor
Lesbians considered Pitt as sperm donor
Melissa Etheridge "considered" using Brad Pitt as a sperm donor.
The 54-year-old singer was close friends with the Moneyball actor when she and then partner Julie Cypher wanted to have children. But they decided against having him help them conceive their kids because they could see how badly he wanted to be a father himself.
Melissa said: "Well actually, [Brad] was such a good friend of mine. And we did consider it. And yet, I looked and I saw how badly he wanted children and I thought, I don't want to share this with someone who really, badly wants children, because my children don't need another parent - they have two.'"
Instead of Brad - who now raises six children with wife Angelina Jolie - the former couple's children, Bailey, now 18, and Beckett, 17, were fathered by musician David Crosby, and Melissa thinks he was the right choice.
Etheridge said: "Of course, my teenagers now are like, 'I could have had Brad Pitt [as my dad]!' My son said, 'I could've been amazingly handsome!'"
Lopez motivated by children
Jennifer Lopez's children inspired her to make her life "great".
The 46-year-old singer and actress admitted she got a "new direction" when she became a mother to eight year-old Max and Emme - whose father is her ex-husband, Marc Anthony and the youngsters influenced her 2011 album Love?
Lopez said: "Here's what had changed in my life: I had given birth. I had given birth, and the kids honestly just gave me a new direction. Like I said, I started asking more questions of myself, of love, of what was right, of what was wrong, all because I wanted their life to be great, too. And I knew for their life to be great my life had to be great, and I needed to fix some things, and that is where all the music came from."
Jay-Z helps name album
Jay Z helped Nick Jonas pick his album title.
The Jealous hitmaker is set to release his new LP, Last Year Was Complicated, in June and has revealed the Empire State of Mind rapper was instrumental in helping him choose the album's name.
He said: "I had a title picked out. It was called Unhinged, it's one of the songs on the album. Jay-Z said, 'Look, listen, as I've heard the whole body of work now and got to know you better, I don't feel like it quite sums up the story you're telling. So, let's just talk about this year of your life. What's it been like?' And I said, 'Last year was complicated.' And he was like, 'That's the title!' "

She explained: "My family comes first. I haven't made a movie probably in a year and a half. I'm focused on my business, but also I want to spend time with my teenage daughter. It's terrifying that my oldest child is about to leave [home to go to university]. I can't imagine not sitting at the foot of her bed, saying, 'So what happened at school today?'"
