VC returns with his son as C-Wi-Yah

Fifteen years after his breakout single, By His Deeds, Valton Craigie, known by his stage name VC, has returned with a remake of Danish Band Lukas Graham's big hit, 7 Years.

Only this time, VC is not alone, but with his son, who attends Jamaica College, Joshua, who was born around the time By His Deed was dominating reggae charts around the world.

The father and son duo, which goes by the name C-Wi-Yah, is hoping that 7 Years will catapult both into the directions they each want to go: VC back to the top of the charts and a successful re-launch of his career; and Joshua, into the limelight as a new recording artiste.

This is not the first time VC has attempted a comeback. In 2012, he released two songs, Jah Send, an original track and a reggae cover of Luther Vandross' Never Too Much.

He hopes 7 Years, will be a more rewarding attempt, especially after such a long time off the charts.

His time away from the music was well worth it, though, as he spent it primarily looking after his son.

He was involved with other stuff, too, such as producing radio and television commercials and a number of recording projects, mostly in Europe.

He also toured occasionally, the last time being in 2015 when he performed in England, Holland, and Italy.

His decision to do a cover of 7 Years, was an easy one, VC said in a release.

"Just like a lot of other people, I fell in love with the song the first time I heard it. When I introduced it to Joshua, he, too, fell in love with the song, so it was an easy decision to record it together," VC said.

Meanwhile, for the multi-talented Joshua, it was a joy to record a song he loves so much with his father.

He is, however, conscious of the need to properly hone his craft and is quite determined to do just that.

"I'm working to develop my craft," Joshua said. "I am looking forward to the challenge and to making improvements."

Singing is just one of Joshua's many talents. He is also a dancer and actor who has performed with the Jamaica Junior Theatre Company, the Wolmer's Dance Troupe, and the L'Acadco Dance Company.

Joshua also represents his school in swimming and water polo.
