The music world, performers and fans alike, should, by now, all be ready for Rebel Salute 2017, set for next Friday and Saturday - January 13 and 14 - at Grizzly's Plantation Cove in Priory, St Ann.

One performer, however, who appears to be anticipating the show this year, more than anyone else, is St James-born reggae artiste, Bobby Tenna, who makes his first appearance on Rebel Salute.

He appears on Friday night and is one of several acts who are making their first appearance on the show at its current venue.

Tenna's anticipation is buoyed by the fact that his performance on GT Taylor's Christmas Extravaganza went over well with the audience and also, his song, Jah Go Before Me, has been getting good airplay.

"It's my first time on Rebel Salute and I'm really looking forward to it," Tenna said in a release. "My fans can look forward to something special from me, even better than what I delivered on GT Taylor's Christmas Extravaganza."

That performance, where he was backed by the Tower Band, was his second time on the show and saw him complete a set that included tracks such as Jah Go Before Me, Where is the Love, Battlefield and Love Songs.

He expects to deliver those songs and more at Rebel Salute and has promised fans something special.

Also making the stage for the first time at Grizzly's are Ky-Mani Marley, Ed Robinson, Spragga Benz, Duane Stephenson, Assassin, Chaka Demus and Pliers, among others.

Of note, there is a gospel element to Rebel Salute this year with Jabez and Marion Hall, both slated for the opening night.

Also, the Kingston based all-girls band Adahzeh, which released the single, Island Girl, last year, will make their big stage debut and is expected to excite.

Rockers Element from Spanish Town is a trio that is expected to have a successful career and should do well on this their first Rebel Salute appearance.

Also look out for Chevaughn, Feluke, Gary Patch, Nkulee Dube, Notis HeavyWeightRockaz, Ras I, Ras T, Shakespear, Davianah, Zosia McGregor, unfamiliar names to the big stage but nevertheless would have earned their place on one of reggae's biggest shows.

The lineup for Friday includes, Anthony B, Bobby Tenna, Chaka Demus and Pliers, Chevaughn, Ed Robinson, Fanton Mojah, Feluke, Gary Patch, General Trees, Half Pint, I-Wayne, Iba Mahr, Jabez, Lone Ranger, Marion Hall, Nkulee Dube, No-Maddz, Notis HeavyWeightRockaz, Ras I, Ras T, Shakespear, Sister Nancy, Tarrus Riley, Abyssinians featuring Bernard Collins, Astronauts, Tony Rebel, Warrior King, Wayne Wonder, Yvad and Zagga.
