Award-winning lovers' rock singer Sophia Brown is getting ready to release a new song titled Only Jamaica that pays homage to the county of her birth.

The catchy song, which will be released tomorrow, was produced by Buck Town Production and will be distributed internationally by Zojak WorldWide. A video will be shot soon.

Brown, who is concerned about the recent spike of violence in Jamaica, said, "Crime and violence are so rampant in certain parts of our country right now that I wanted to personally let people who live abroad understand that despite our challenges, Jamaica is still a beautiful island. I wanted to make a song that focuses on the positive things about our island... our food, our beaches, our successes in sports and our music. I also wanted to let them know that we have a rich cultural heritage and, as a people, we stand for what we believe in, and that is what the song is about.

"My first order of business after this (single) is to finish my album so that I can get back on stage and in the thick of things," she added.

On January 30, the Gimme That Good Love singer will trek to Westmoreland, where she will be the featured performer at Negril's hot spot - Bourbon Beach - on their Jammin' Live Monday concert series.

BACK HOME

"I was overseas for a while and most of my recent performances have been there. Now that I am back home, I am eager to get back on stage to do what I love to do best - performing for fans. I plan to bring my A game to ensure everyone has a great time," she said.

Brown has also inked a booking deal with Germany-based Zoe Zoula Agency.

Looking back at 2016, the singer said a major accomplishment for her was seeing her son go off to college and her daughter soar in the fashion industry. Performing in Connecticut for the American Cancer Society was also very important.
