Veteran selector and operator of Renaissance Sound and Silent Noise, DJ Delano, has partnered with Nick Mack of Ocho Rios Nightlife to host a carnival series this weekend titled Silent Carnival.

The Silent Carnival series will run from April 13 to 17, and will feature five separate events.

The first event, titled Whisper, will be held on Thursday, April 13 at Club Panda, located at Pines Plaza in Junction, St Elizabeth. The second event will see the organisers heading over to Ocho Rios for an event called Soca on the Ridge on April 14 at popular venue Zedoj on The Ridge. Then on April 15, the excitement continues in St Ann with Taste of Silence. The party fans will remain in the parish for another event, Silent Zone, on April 16, before wrapping up the series on Monday, April 17 with an event dubbed Z Lounge, in Linstead.

Patrons are also advised to travel with a valid voter's ID, driver's licence or passport in exchange for headsets.

Promoter of the series, Nick Mack, told The Gleaner that the event is going to be a trendsetter.

"This is the first of its kind in the Caribbean. There are events of this nature in Europe, but none has had its own carnival. We are getting good feedback from persons in the rural areas, and we are hoping that the Kingston audience will choose over events as the after parties following the major events set for the weekend," he said.

Delano also noted that the headphones will give patrons the ability to manually control their music of choice by switching channels.

"Each channel will carry a separate genre, and it is up to the DJs to keep the audience's full attention," he said.
