Sevana 'Loses It' in new TV series

Since she appeared on the scene, singer-songwriter Sevana's career has enjoyed relative success. Earlier this year, the 'Carry You' singer, opened for Protoje and the Indiggnation band across eight cities in the United Kingdom (UK), and performed as a headliner at her own event at the O2 Academy. Now, the songstress will entertain in a new role, adding television actress to her growing list of accomplishments. 

'Losing Patience', is a (very) mini series, premiering on Saturday, July 1 at 9 p.m., on TVJ. The series which is four episodes long, follows Renee Patience, as she 'navigates life's small struggles and large frustrations.' The comedy also features Kimberly Patterson, star of Nick Cannon's directorial debut, King of the Dancehall (2016), who plays Renee's best friend, Desiree. 'Losing Patience', is the first serialised project by the writer, director and editor Teeqs, and is produced by Justine Henzell and Natalie Nash. 

Teeqs told The Gleaner, that the production team for the series is especially committed to giving Jamaican women a voice. "In particular, Jamaican millennial women. There's a lot happening in our present social and economic climate that haven't really been addressed in the film and television space, but they most definitely deserve to be reflected," she said. 

"Our presence on screen, both here and abroad, is typically relegated to a kind of supporting or background role where the character's agency is muted. With this project, we'd like to shake that up a bit by focusing on a young, black woman, who is doing her best to make a way in the world. We think it's a really ripe landscape for material that sadly, hasn't been explored to its fullest capacity."

Following it's premiere on TVJ on Saturday, July 1, and repeat on July 8, the series will be available online for free through Vimeo on July 9.
