Best of Jimmy Cliff enters chart at seven, Sizzla at eight

The album Best of Jimmy Cliff is a new entry on the Billboard Reggae Chart for the week ending July 8, 2017. Naturally, a 'best of' album will have familiar material - that's the point of that type of collection in the first place, so expect material from the soundtrack of The Harder They Come onwards - or maybe even a little back to Cliff's ska era.

Sizzla's Fought For This is another new entry at number eight.

It is a good time for returns and long stayers, as Ziggy Marley's self-titled Grammy winner has earned a star for its upward movement to number five on the current listing. It completes the top five, which begins with a re-entry, Xyclone's From the Basement to the Big Leagues, at number one. It pushed Major Lazer's Know No Better EP down to second position, with Falling Into Place (Rebelution) third. Collie Buddz's Good Life is fourth.

Another Rebelution set, Live at Red Rocks, precedes Cliff and Sizzla. Common Kings' Lost in Paradise, is ninth, just ahead of Stephen Marley's Revelation Part II: The Fruit of Life.

Skatalites: Independence Ska and the Far East Sound of Original Ska continues the Jamaican presence at number 13, while Morgan Heritage's Avrakedabra closes off the ranking at number 15.
