Kim Nain lays down the law for music
Aspiring Jamaican singer/songwriter, Kim Nain has finally decided to focus on her musical career and take a break from her current law career.
The Bachelor of Laws Degree and Diploma in Education holder, has been consistently recording from May 2016 GeeJam producers DizTroy - a combined effort between Dale Virgo (founder of DZL Records) and Troy Baker.
Nain graduated with her first professional degree in Law two years ago and has now decided to make an appeal to the music industry.
“I was in full studio mode at GeeJam in Portland with Diztroy and the EDM DJ / Producer duo from Holland, Team Rush Hour to work on a series of tracks,” shared Nain.
Virgo is known for his work on the Crazy Little Thing Called Love, track from Rihanna’s Girl Like Me album and vowed to work with numerous emerging Jamaican artistes to produce tracks of comparable magnitudes.
Over the past year, various tracks recorded under the DZL label, including an acoustic version of the songbird’s, What You Wanna Do and the most recently released upbeat dancehall-reggae medley, Up and Down (which has been made available via all major music platforms as of July 21), have caught the attention of public ears.
“Dale Virgo is my executive producer responsible for all my productions and handles my creative direction,” said Nain.
She has also written and created numerous jingles for commercial purposes, but her career was set in motion when she performed alongside Billboard chart-topping artiste, Omi in Europe, on his Summer 2015 tour. Today the singer is determined to take worldwide charts by storm.
Her first step in that direction is the new video, Up and Down, directed by Robin Chin, which is scheduled for release tomorrow (July 26).
“Up and Down, was born from a general mood. The riddim, along with the chemistry and high energy of DizTroy, resulted in a dancehall track,” shared Nain, which is different from all her previous work. “It showcases a different side – as I’m not known as a dancehall artiste nor am I one,” she continued.
The video focuses on introducing the face of Kim Nain with scenes composed of close up shots and showcasing her sexually appealing dance moves.
Moving forward, Nain is set to collaborate with California-based EDM group - Bad Royale, Team Rush Hour, Alexx Antaeus and continue working with GeeJam producers.
