Bolshoi principals Svetlana Zakharova and Sergei Polunin in the Bolshoi Ballet’s presentation of Giselle.

Yuri Grigorovich's production of the 19th-century Giselle follows the hopeless romantic Giselle as she discovers that her beloved Albrecht is promised to another woman. Affected by the news, she dies of a broken heart in his arms.

While Albrecht grieves, she returns from the dead as a Wili, a vengeful spirit meant to make unfaithful men dance until death. Prima ballerina Svetlana Zakharova personifies this ultimate role in the classical repertoire, alongside the sensational Sergei Polunin as Albrecht, in this chilling, yet luminous ballet that continues to captivate audiences for more than 150 years at the Bolshoi.

The music is directed by Alexander Kopylov, the choreo-graphy is by Jean Coralli, Jules Perro and Marius Petipa with Svetlana Zakharova (Giselle), Sergei Polunin (Albrecht) dancing in leading roles. The Bolshoi Ballet's Giselle will be showing this Sunday, May 13, 2018, at 11:30 a.m. at the Palace Cineplex.
