CHART WATCH BILLBOARD: Kabaka's 'Kontraband' debuts at no. 3

Kabaka Pyramid’s debut album, Kontraband, has debuted at number three on the Billboard Reggae Albums Chart, which holds up to Saturday, June 6. In the process, it has nabbed the Greatest Gainer of the Week honours.

But if there was a prize for a ‘double-double’ – two versions of the same combination album on the chart at the same time – it would go to Sting and Shaggy. Not only has their 44/876 reclaimed the number one spot, which it lost to Ziggy Marley’s Rebellion Rises last week, but their 44/876: Remixes set has entered the listing at number 10.

The only album from last week’s top five to hold its ground is the number two placed self-titled set from Iration. After its chart-topping debut last week, Rebellion Rises now holds fourth place and the top five is rounded out by sounds from the Eastern Caribbean in the Soca Gold 2018 compilation in its first week on the chart. Among the songs on it are Patrice Roberts’ Sweat Fuh Days, Savannah (Iwer George), Guh Ask Yuh Muddah (Bunji Garlin), Alison Hinds’ Pull Up and Rude Wayz (Lyrikal).

In its 45th consecutive week on the Billboard Reggae Albums Chart, Damian ‘Jr. Gong’ Marley’s Stony Hill is holding on to the tail-end at nine, slipping three places from last week’s position. Just above it is Pacific Dub’s new entry, Guide You Home. Henricci’s EP Sister Caro has also lost ground, dipping two places from last week to seventh on the current listing. The number six set, Marching Orders (The Green), is the only carry-over from last week to enjoy an uptick, gaining two spots in its 24th weeks on the chart.
