Brotha George releases You Will Rise, his most personal album yet

Award-winning gospel singer Brotha George has released his latest album, You Will Rise, which he believes is Grammy, inspired by recent trials that brought him even closer to God.

Alongside the title song, the 12-track album comprises some quality songs like Overcome, Nobody's Fault, Redemption, Enough for Me, and God Great. Produced by Sidney Mills' SPI Music, the project features the work of some established musicians like Soljie Hamilton Leebert 'Gibby' Morrison on bass and guitars, Stingray on horns, Franklin 'Bubbler' Waul on keyboards, and Arnoldo Blot on drums. Blot's wife, Nicole, provides backing vocals.

Brotha George, born George Wright, became a gospel artiste a decade ago and has been prolific in the studio with albums like I Am Healed, Heaven Bound, Most High God, Transition, and Solid Rock. In 2013, he won Gospel Artiste of the Year and Performer of the Year at the Love Gospel International Awards held in the Bronx, New York. This latest work, he believes, could be his best work yet.

"It is a very powerful album, so whatever the Lord wills. But it has the potential," was how he assessed it.

The brother of Winston Watson of the 1970s group, the Meditations and who has been a devout Christian since about 2008. He explained the inspiration for the title track and the project itself.

"There has been a personal experience that I have gone through for the past couple of years. I found myself in a desolate place where God had spoken to me. During my darkest moments, I got to a place of deeper understanding," he said. "When you're going through your storm, there is only one man who will keep you and cover you under His wings, and that is the Almighty. The faith takes a lifetime to live and to learn."

The album was released on May 24 and the singer has plans to promote it with tours of the Caribbean this summer, including an appearance here in Jamaica at Fun in the Son.
