Final two headed for World Clash series in October
Two of Birmingham's most feared sound systems will now head to the famed World Clash in Toronto, Canada, this October, after winning the recent UK Rumble.
Mour Dan and Empire Sound were declared the winners, after what was described as one of the most intense clashes in the UK in recent times. The clash took place at the Ice Lounge in Telford, UK.
Irish and Chin, producers of the rumble, reports that there was a sold-out crowd for the event that had some of England's most prolific sound systems participating. There was only supposed to be one winner but the two sounds that were left standing were so good, it was hard to separate them. There were numerous recounts, but still the two were tied so after much deliberation, it was decided that both would be crowned winners.
Garfield 'Chin' Bourne of Irish and Chin told The Sunday Gleaner that this year's clash was one of the most exciting he has seen in a while, and the difficulty of choosing just one winner was testament to how good the clash was. "Without a doubt, 'UK Rumble' was the most unpredictable clash of the Rumble Series. But that's what makes sound clash the exciting sport that it is. Suspense and predictions of who will win contribute to the overall experience," he said. "Once a clash reaches a level where the audience has trouble deciding on a winner, that's when you know it was indeed a great competition," says Bourne.
Empire Sound from Birmingham has been in the business for the past 10 years, making a name for themselves in their hometown and across the UK. The team consists of Marvin Empire, Doctor C, Brando Unruly and Bredda Screw.
Mour Don is much younger at just four years old. However, their youth did not impact their might as they put up a fight. The sound system operators were happy to be a part of the Rumble as they believe the competition is the perfect platform to showcase their talent to the rest of the world. Based in both the UK and Jamaica, the Mour Dan team includes: Phil Trooper, Hurricane Jermaine, DJ Katarack, DJ Fresh Prince, DJ Rice, DJ Adam and DJ Squit. The team was assisted on the night of the competition by Tony Crystal and DJ Niko.
The UK champs will now face off against Mystic (Canada Rumble), 3 Sevens (Caribbean Rumble), Dynamq (US Rumble), Jah Works (Japan Rumble), Dee Buzz (Euro Rumble) and defending champion King Turbo at World Clash 2018 in Canada come October.
