The wait is finally over. The Met: Live in HD 2018-19 Season in cinemas commences on October 14, 2018 with Verdi's grand opera Aida, starring the vocal powerhouse Anna Netrebko. Set in Ancient Egypt, the story centres around the conflict between forbidden love and hatred for one's enemies.

Aida, a seemingly lowly Ethiopian slave girl, is in love with her Egyptian captor Radames, a distinguished warrior on the battlefield. Unbeknownst to everyone, she is the captured princess from Ethiopia, whose furious father is on his way to rescue her, laying waste to Egypt in his path. Adding to the danger is Amneris, the Egyptian princess, who, despite her intense love for Radames, cannot shake the feeling that the mysterious Aida just may be her rival in love. Opera fans can expect 10 other spectacular productions this season with titles such as La Traviata, Die Walkure and The Magic Flute. Aida plays this Sunday, October 14, 11:30 a.m. at Palace Cineplex.

The Met: Live in HD 2018-19 Season captured directly from the stage in New York will showcase encore performances exclusively at Palace Cineplex, Sovereign Centre, Liguanea.
