There were countless memorable moments for Culture Minister Babsy Grange at this year's Reggae Sumfest.

But the Beenie Man-Bounty Killa performance ranks number one.

The one-time rivals shared the stage as headline acts on Friday night, reaping sustained cheers at points.

"I can't begin to tell you how much that meant to me," Grange said.

"I was co-manager for Bounty Killer and as I stood beside Bounty on Friday night before he went on stage it was like déjà vu for me because I remember that year when Bounty and Beenie clashed at STING," she recalled, referring to a Jamaican dancehall show.

• Spice
• Beres Hammond
• Koffe 

Grange said she is sure Jamaican music has a solid future.

"It's a great time for me to have been around to see the music come full circle. There is so much more good about the music than that which is bad," she said.

8,000 tourists for Sumfest 

The Culture and Entertainment Minister Olivia 'Babsy' Grange is reporting that some 8,000 tourists came to Jamaica for the 27th staging of Reggae Sumfest.

The two-night festival culminated last night at Montego Bay's Catherine Hall Complex.

"Sumfest 2019 has outdone itself in terms of audience turnout both nights," Grange said, calling the event a jewel that must be preserved at all costs.

Grange also said from all indications, Reggae Sumfest 2019 was the biggest ever.

"I don't know what the dollars say but it would appear that everything worked well. There was just something magical about this year," she said.
