The Jamaica Fun int the Son Movement Concerts 2019 are expected to keep the established covenant that states ‘if souls aren’t won, it is not worth it,’ an agreement made between organisers and sponsors of the event.

That’s why when the sun sets at the Port Antonio Folly Oval and Mandeville Primary School today and tomorrow, the hub of the day’s presentation will be the ‘word,’ or, as others call it, the ‘preaching’, which is when decisions are made for Christ.

The ‘word’ has always been the centre of the 17 years of Fun in the son, featuring the likes of Andrew Palau, Bishop Jackie McCollough, Dr Myles Munroe, Pastor David Keane, Bishop Henry Fernandez, and Pastor Donnie McClurkin.

FESTIVAL FIRSTS

This year marks the premiere staging of the community-engagement concerts, which are mini versions of the highly anticipated biennial event.

It is also the first time that Fun in the Son will take the experience outside of Kingston, and Port Antonio, affectionately called ‘Portie’ by Portlanders, is ready.

Trusted with the mandate of delivering the Word of God to those who will be in attendance is daughter of conceptualiser Tommy ‘Yes Indeed’ Cowan, Sara Conner, a pastor, author, and Christian Counsellor with the International Institute of Faith Based Counselling.

Speaking with The Gleaner about her preparations for sharing God’s word, Conner said that she doesn’t have a period of fasting when readying herself for her deliveries because she lives a ‘fasted life.’

“The preparation is making sure I’m submitted to the vision and hear the heart of what the visionary is wanting. Based on that, I then pray about how God would want me to accomplish that, especially in this context because there’s a focus and a theme. For Fun in the Son, it’s an evangelical word of hope and the love of God in hopes of revealing God’s heart to them and the reminder that God hasn’t forgotten them,” she said, bringing into perspective her father’s goal of winning souls for Christ and spreading love, peace, and unity.

MINISTERS FEATURED

The free Jamaica Fun in the Son community-engagement events will also feature the powerful ministry of Kevin Downswell, Carlene Davis, Rondell Positive, Alaine, Ity and Marq Johnson, the JCDC Gospel Song Comp[etion winner, Youth Reaching Youth Drama Team, a Kids Zone.

In addition to the thousand souls the concerts are expected to win for Christ, event organiser Tommy Cowan said that through partnership with the police, they are also seeking to find over 5,000 suitably qualified applicants to enlist in the Jamaica Constabulary Force.
