Miss China crowned queen of the globe

Alice Li won the hearts of the patrons who attended the Miss Global International Talent segment at Hard Rock Café last Thursday, and two days later she did a double flip, capturing first place in the minds of the judges.
A believer of dreams, the entrepreneur and businesswoman, who graduated the University of Toronto as class valedictorian, and who now works at the world’s largest accounting firm, PwC, performs on the streets of Canada so children at the SOS Children’s Villages can get a warm bed to sleep on.
A very early crowd favourite, 25-year-old Li, wearing the sash Miss China, outclassed and outperformed her competitors with confidence, poise and awareness. It came as no surprise that she took home the crown, in honour of her Asian counterparts, at the grand coronation show at the Montego Bay Convention Centre last Saturday night. Her closest competitors were Jamaica’s Brithney Clarke and San Andres’ Yasleth Castillo Nelson, who placed third and second, respectively. Some 20 nations, including South Africa, Portugal, India, Guyana, Zimbabwe, Trinidad, The Bahamas, the United Kingdom, Canada, Mexico, Haiti, Venezuela and Brazil, were represented in the contest.
Li, who wants to use her professional career to empower other women to break the glass ceiling, said in her free time she started a charity project that consists of public street performances to raise donations for charity. She hopes to inspire others to be their best selves every day.
For 26-year-old Castillo Nelson, who is on the final part of her journey to becoming a food engineer, her peace is transmitted by the Caribbean sunset and views.
“I consider myself as an easy and very humble person. I love science,” she stated.
Clarke, a 22-year-old media professional and fitness enthusiast who holds a Bachelor of Arts in Integrated Marketing Communications, delivered herself exceptionally well during the event, gaining many fans in the process.
Extremely passionate about volunteerism and mental health advocacy, Clarke holds a keen interest in photography, dance, event planning and travel.
Undoubtedly one of the best pageant production teams, Miss Global’s director Neelam Ramchandani, daughter of founder Lachu Ramchandani, and brother Manoj outdid themselves this year. For Neelam Ramchandani, it was very challenging, but a great representation of the hard work by the entire team.
