Dubwise returns to brand new Kaya Herb House

Exactly one week after Red Bull Culture Clash takes the roof off the National Arena, there will be another major sound system event going down. On Saturday, November 9, the globetrotting Dubwise will return to Kingston with an encore from veteran United Kingdom DJ David Rodigan and the inventor of ‘juggling’ himself, Rory Stone Love. Although this staging will dish out some sonic nostalgia from the likes of Rodigan and Rory, it will also be an introduction of the newest addition to the Kaya Herb House franchise.
Kaya Herb House will open its third location at 82 Lady Musgrave Road. The first dispensary was opened in Drax Hall, St Ann, in 2018 and a second location in Falmouth this year.
Dubwise will serve up a pre-opening night milieu of roots, reggae, and dub to introduce this latest cannabis dispensary. And to cap off the legendary line-up, Renaissance Sound, with Delano and Jazzy T, the DJ who popularised scratching and remixes, will also be manning the Dubwise turntables. It is expected to be an interesting presentation by a sound system whose forte is dancehall.
Co-founder of Dubwise Jamaica, Jason Panton said: “This staging of Dubwise is a musical journey but, most importantly, a place to dance and enjoy the greatest sounds of our own authentic reggae and dancehall music.”
Last year, Rodigan hit the Dubwise stage at pioneering filmmaker Perry Henzell’s popular 10A West Kings House Road property in celebration of his 40th anniversary as a reggae and dancehall DJ. Featured guests were stalwarts like King Jammy and millennial maestros like Yaadcore and Chronixx. Patrons can expect to be treated to some other special guests this year.
Established in 2013 by creative director Panton, reggae artiste Protoje, and DJ Yaadcore, Dubwise has grown into a global pop-up event with stagings in New York, Miami, California, Trinidad, and other places.
