Music mentors at Avant Music Academy have relaunched their music education programme, which is now exclusively online.

With almost a decade of experience in music education, Avant Music Academy’s online offerings include piano, bass guitar, and drums, as well as music production techniques using technology. “As a social enterprise, we [take pride in] impacting lives through professional music training; therefore, as we adjust to living with a pandemic, learning a new musical skill during this time may not only prove beneficial professionally but also be therapeutic,” said co-founder and CEO of Avant Seretse Small.

Daily class schedules are between 1 p.m. and 2 p.m. and between 3 p.m. and 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, with an additional class from 11 a.m. to noon from Tuesday to Friday. “We are building a world-class music educational system that meets global standards while being sensitive to local needs. So in an effort to minimise the disruption to our current students and expand our services to new audiences while observing social-distancing protocols, we have launched our music education programme this month until July 31, 2020,” said Small.

Students who are admitted to the online programme will continue to benefit from a mentorship programme to facilitate personal development and a referral programme for career development with the opportunity to benefit from scholarships and bursaries.
