Denyque plots return to music
Four months after giving birth to her baby girl, recording artiste Denyque is plotting her grand return to the music scene. It’s been approximately two years since the Proud Wifey singer last released new music and, according to her, the time has come for her to once again grace the music scene with her talent.
“There’s one word that I’d use to sum up the reason for my return to music, and that is God. I never wanted to come back into music until I was absolutely ready, and instead of trying to figure out when I would be ready I just allowed myself to be,” she told The Gleaner. “I paid attention to the signs, how I felt and just went with the flow of it all. I’ve been in and out of the studio for the past few years. I recorded three songs in the last two years that just never quite felt like ‘it’ for me, and so I wanted to allow myself to just grow and get back in the groove naturally.”
NEW LEVEL OF MUSIC
Speaking of growth, Denyque revealed that her return will see her unlocking a new level of musical maturity. She expressed that the entertainment scene knows the ‘sweet, soft’ side of her; the Denyque who gave people hits such as Supergirl and Make Me Believe You, but says there is a whole other side to her that they will now get to experience, and that side, she explained, is ‘not so sweet’. “This is the evolution of Denyque for sure. It’s the next chapter in my book and now is the time for all that. A lot of me and who I really am has not made it to social media and hasn’t made it to my music,” she said. “There is a whole other part of me that you have to really know me to know that is who I am. Me always say ‘mi a bad gyal inna real life and a real thing’, so all these other parts of me are going to now come to light. I’m going to control the narrative more and so you won’t just be getting the sweet side any more. There is another part of me that is really down to earth and really street.”
To help facilitate the introduction of this new side of Denyque, the artiste has landed a partnership with established music label, Good Good Productions. Speaking on behalf of the label, Sasha Bling, who will be managing Denyque’s career, told The Gleaner that the collaboration will only be facilitating the rise of a talent that already made her mark on the industry. “Denyque has always been a force in music. She has proven to be a woman of many talents that is truly an asset to this industry, and we’re just going to further highlight that,” she said. “This won’t be Denyque on her pretty girl vibe any more. This will be Denyque the grown woman that you’re about to experience. It’s going to be epic.”
The first order of business for Denyque under her new label will be a collaboration with fast-rising artiste Shaneil Muir, who is also signed to Good Good Productions.
