Deiwght Peters is still beaming after the successful premiere of his newest television offering last Sunday on Television Jamaica. The one-hour feature, ‘Rolling with Deiwght Peters’, gained widespread thumbs up with its dynamic, unique style, content variety and fresh format.

When the show airs this Sunday at 4 p.m., Peters is upping the ante with an exclusive interview with international star designer Grace Wales Bonner. This is a major coup for the show’s executive producer and host as the British-Jamaican designer has set the fashion world ablaze since the debut of her eponymous line in June 2016 at London Fashion Week.

The Wales Bonner brand has been enjoying global spotlight moments, especially when it was revealed that the dress worn by royal Megan Markle, Duchess of Sussex in her post-baby debut alongside her husband Prince Harry and baby Archie was indeed from the house of Wales Bonner. “Grace is a brilliant designer, whose work I was attracted to from her first collection at London Fashion Week. Her unapologetic homage to regal, masculine, strong Afro-centric aesthetic informed by intellectualism made me an instant fan. We connected in London shortly after and have been working together ever since,” Saint CEO Deiwght Peters exclusively shared with The Gleaner.

EXCITED ABOUT VENTURE

Peters added that he has performed as casting director for several Wales Bonner projects, including shoots for Vogue and runway shows . “I consider her a dear friend, and I am excited to share this special conversation with the world,” Peters beamed. Like Peters, Grace’s family hails from Clarendon and she returned home for some quiet inspiration.

A graduate of the prestigious Central St Martin fashion school in London, she has won several influential awards, including the 2015 Emerging Talent-Menswear at the British Fashion Awards and the 2016 LVMH Prize for Young Fashion Designers.

The late legendary Chanel designer Karl Lagerfeld and Marc Jacobs are among her legions of fans. In 2019, American Vogue editor Anna Wintour told Rihanna, in a special edition of the magazine, that Grace Wales Bonner was one of the new young designers she is excited about. An exclusive collaboration with Christian Dior for its 2019 cruise collection sent her profile through the stratosphere.

Staying true to its ‘fresh fun’ theme and ‘from Jamaica to the world’ tag line, last Sunday viewers were transported from Norway to Switzerland (with the Arnold twins), Washington USA (international actress Judi Johnson), and showcasing exclusive footage of its successful models rocking the runways in Milan, New York, London and Paris. The addition of a musical component surely makes this a television ‘culture fest’ like no other.
